It is also known as the holy basil or the scientific name is Ocimum sanctum. Tulsi is a common name in the Indian households. this plant is easy to grow and is widely found in the Indian subcontinent. It is also present in the tropical regions of the Southeast Asian countries. This plant is very famous for its effects in the Ayurvedic Medical Science.
It is present in two varieties:-
  • Lakshmi Tulsi (green colored) 
  • Krishna Tulsi (purple-hued)

Tulsi plant is worshipped and is offered to the gods and is grown mainly in Hindu households.
