THYROID:- (Yoga for Thyroid)

It is a medical condition in which there is an effect on the functioning of the thyroid gland. There are mainly two types of thyroid:- (Yoga for Thyroid)

  • Hypothyroidism:- It is caused due to not containing enough thyroid hormones.
  • Hyperthyroidism:- It is caused due to a large number of thyroid hormones.

In both of the types, i.e, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, there might be swelling of a part of the neck, which is called goiter.

  • Cauliflower, cabbage, and broccoli
  • Non-vegetarian
  • Milk and its products
  • Spicy and fast foods
  • Banana, mango, and grapes
  • Refined and preserved foods

THYROID DIET TIPS/HOW TO CURE THYROID WITH FOOD:- (Yoga for Thyroid)

  • Consume a diet rich in fiber content.
  • Avoid consumption of fats and carbohydrate.
  • Consume more green and leafy vegetables.
  • Intake seasonal fruits.
  • Ginger
  • Black walnut, which contains iodine and nourishes the thyroid gland.
  • Foods such as curd, fish, meat, eggs, radish, and oatmeal contain a good amount of iodine. So intake of these in the diet regularly help control thyroid problems
  • Gomutra (Cow urine)
  • Sunrays. Walk in the morning sunlight for around 10-15 minutes.
  • Drinking of coconut oil improves the functioning of the thyroid hormone.
  • Take diets like carrots, pumpkin, sprouts, spinach, wheatgrass, seaweeds as these are rich in iodine content.

  • Inverted Pose (Viparitakarani)

The meaning of Viparita is ‘reverse’ and the word Karni means is ‘by which’. Viparitakarni helps to increase the balance of the functioning of the thyroid and also eases the complication caused due to the hypoactive thyroid. This is one of the most important asanas for the thyroid disorder.

  • Plough Pose (Halasana)

Hala word means plow. This pose resembles an Indian plow hence it is known as halasana. This yoga pose or exercise provides compression to the neck and also stimulates the thyroid glands.

  • Fish Pose (Matsyasana)

Matsya word means fish, in the final pose, this asana takes the form of a fish. Hence the name is given as Matsyasana. It provides an adequate amount of stretching to the neck region thus increasing the stimulation of the thyroid gland.

  • Camel Pose (Ustrasana)

This asana provides stretch to the neck as well.

  • Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar)

Kapalbhati and Pranayamas such as Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, Bhastrika Pranayama, and Ujjayi  Pranayama, all of these pranayamas, Surya Namaskar, and Kapalbhati are beneficial and important in reducing the symptoms of the thyroid.

  • The Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)

There are some types of compressing and stretching in the neck while performing this pose of advanced Bhujangasana. This pose helps in regulating the thyroid glands.

  • Bridge Formation Pose (Setubandh Sarvangasana)

This is the important yoga pose for the thyroid disorder. While performing Setubandh Sarvangasana, if the practitioner succeeds in forming a good bridge form, the neck gets an ample amount of stretch, which is good for the thyroid gland.

  • Headstand Pose (Sirshasana)

Sirshasana is the finest Yoga pose for managing the thyroid gland. Sirshasana acts directly on the thyroid glands, which help in balancing the metabolic functions and brings about wakefulness and alertness, and without excessive nervousness.   • The Bow Pose (Dhanurasana)
