(Reuters) – A number of consumers of Russian fuel have agreed to change to funds in roubles, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated on Friday.

“We anticipate the choice (to change to roubles) from different importers,” he added, in feedback revealed within the ministry’s in-house journal. He didn’t disclose the identities of shoppers who had already switched.

President Vladimir Putin stated final month that consumers of Russian fuel from “unfriendly” international locations ought to pay in roubles, a transfer rejected by European Union authorities below the bloc’s sanctions regime towards Moscow.
